Xella Bulgaria, the Bulgarian arm of German building materials manufacturer Xella, is a successor of Ytong Bulgaria.
In September 2004, Ytong Bulgaria became part of German group Xella and was renamed to Xella Bulgaria.
Ytong entered Bulgarian market in 1994 by purchasing the country's sole aerated concrete products manufacturer near the capital Sofia.
The Sofia plant, which has an annual capacity of 350,000 cubic metres of aerated concrete, cannot meet demand of the domestic market.
Xella Bulgaria invested EUR 16 million in the construction of a new plant located in Dobrich, north-eastern Bulgaria.
The plant, which has an annual capacity of 400,000 cubic metres of aerated concrete products, was launched in May 2006.
It will export part of its output to Romania, Moldova and Ukraine.
