The Cooperative was established on October 22, 1961 to promote savings and credit activities, becoming on September 23, 1970 a Cooperativa de Fines Multiples, developing since then savings and credit activities. The main objectives of the cooperative are to grant credits to raise the level and quality of life of its members and provide other financial services to contribute to the success of its members and the community. At present the Cooperativa La Merced has seven urban agencies called Rio Nuevo, Mutualista, Grigota, Alto San Pedro, Cotoca, Montero, Riberalta (Beni) and eight regional agencies named: Pailon, Guarayos, San Javier, Concepcion, San Ignacio, Miner, Yapacani, Samaipata.
