Cooperativa Madre y Maestra Ltda. was founded by the Father Salvatore Bartolome Attard Grima on October 11, 1964, becoming a Savings and Credit Cooperative. Subsequently, with the purpose of expanding the services to the associate, it became Cooperativa Multiactiva, engaging in works of great social impact such as the creation and construction of houses in different neighborhoods of the city of Tarija. From the 90s the Cooperative began a sustained economic and institutional recovery. It obtained its Operating License as an Open Savings and Credit Cooperative from the Superintendency of Banks and Financial Institutions (today ASFI) on December 23, 2008, consolidating itself since that date as a leading Cooperative in the Department of Tarija.
