Seguros de Vida Suramericana S.A. is an insurance company located in Santiago, Chile. It was created in 1944 and is backed by its parent company, Grupo SURA, which owns 81.1% of the company. The international reinsurer Munich Re also holds a 18.9% stake in the company. Suramericana entered the Chilean market in 2016 through the acquisition of RSA Seguros, a company with a history of over 300 years in the United Kingdom. In Chile, Suramericana succeeded Compañía de Seguros La República S.A., which was established on April 15, 1905. It is a prestigious company in the Chilean insurance market and in 1980, it merged with the current insurance group RSA Group, solidifying its leadership position in the national market.
