Azucarera El Palmar, S.A. is a company located in San Jose, Costa Rica. It was established in the 1958-1959 period and had its first sugar harvest that year, producing 10,411 bags of sugar. Currently, Azucarera El Palmar produces nearly 1 million bags of sugar and over 20 million kilograms of honey annually. Its sugar is sold throughout Costa Rica through LAICA, and its raw sugar is exported to various destinations such as the United States, Japan, Canada, and others. The company processes sugarcane from over 120 small neighboring producers. It is an important source of employment for the Puntarenas area and a key component of the local economy.
