Misr Chemical Industries Company (MICH) was established in 1959 and partially privatized in 1994. It produces industrial chemicals including caustic soda, chlorines, acids, and carbonates for local and export markets. The company has an outstanding position in the markets as it produces soda ash which is a primary ingredient in the manufacture of glass and is also vital to the detergents industry. MICH has acquired the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications for both quality and environment management . The company's products can be divided into three types: the main products (which include liquid caustic soda, flakes, hydrochloric acid, bleaching powder and compressed hydrogen); by-products (such as sodium hypochlorite 12%, sodium hypochlorite 6% and calcium hypochlorite 6%); and lab products (which includes ferric chloride, distilled water and calcium chloride)
