South China Holdings Company Limited is a diversified conglomerate based in Hong Kong. It was founded in the late 1980s by three experienced financial investment experts: Mr. Wu Hongsheng, Ms. Zhang Saie, and Mr. Richard Howard Gorges. The company went public on the main board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 1987. In the early 1990s, South China Holdings actively pursued business diversification and has since become a comprehensive enterprise with diverse operations. It has invested in manufacturing industries such as footwear, heavy machinery, and clothing through joint ventures in mainland China since 1993. The company also expanded its agricultural business by investing in farmland in Guangdong Province, a jujube plantation in Hebei Province, and fish ponds in the Nanjing area. In 1995, South China Holdings restructured its business and transferred its toy manufacturing and trading operations to its wholly-owned subsidiary, Wah Shing International Holdings Limited. In 2001, the company collaborated with Sino Land Company Limited to develop a Grade A office project called Central Plaza in Central, Hong Kong. Apart from property development projects in Hong Kong, South China Holdings is also involved in real estate development and property investment in mainland China. It has developed shopping centers like Xinghui Plaza in Shenyang and a mixed-use commercial complex called Central Plaza. Since 2007, South China Holdings has been engaged in fruit tree cultivation in Chongqing.
