Vedan International Holdings Limited is a company located in Hong Kong that was listed on the main board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2003. The company is a leading manufacturer in the Asian region, specializing in the production of amino acid products, food additives, and starch industrial products using fermentation technology. Vedan International sells its products to food distributors, international trading companies, and food, paper, textile, and chemical product manufacturers in Vietnam, ASEAN countries, China, Japan, Taiwan, and some European countries. The majority of the company's products are sold under the brand name "Vedan." Since the 1970s, Vedan International has been selling its MSG products in Vietnam, China, and other ASEAN countries. In 1991, the company established Vedan Vietnam as its main production base to accelerate market expansion. Over the years, the business has grown, and the production scale has continued to expand. Vedan International is now the largest MSG producer in Southeast Asia and the largest supplier of lysine and starch industrial products in Vietnam. In 1995, the company acquired Xiamen Maotai Factory to focus on developing the Chinese market. In 2004, Vedan International acquired the assets and MSG business of Shanghai Vedan Food Company to serve as its operating center in China and fully develop the Chinese market. In November 2005, Vedan Vietnam completed the acquisition of Vedan Thai Cassava Starch Company, which provides stable starch supply and strengthens the production foundation of starch products for the company. In the same year, Shandong Vedan Xuehua Industrial Co., Ltd. was established, and glutamate production began in April 2006.
