GE Hungary Kft. is presented on the Hungarian market since 1989, its group parent company being General Electric (NYSE: GE) - an American multinational corporation, the successor of the Edison General Electric Company, founded in 1890. General Electric is well known for its household appliances, consumer electronics, lighting, electrical distribution and other services in the energy sector, financial services, water treatment and healthcare – all of its businesses are active in Hungary too. GE enters the Hungarian market by acquiring the majority of the shares of the Tungsram manufacturer and nowadays is the biggest US investor and one of the biggest exporters. GE Hungary has two legal entities and operates 12 manufacturing plants in 10 cities. The headquarters of the division “GE Lighting” for the EMEA region is also located in Budapest, as well as its global technology center.
