Homeplus Tesco Co., Ltd. is a retail company based in South Korea. It operates hypermarkets, supermarkets, convenience stores, and online shopping services. Formerly known as Samsung Tesco Co., Ltd., it changed its name to Homeplus Co., Ltd. in 2011. In 2015, it was sold to a consortium of investors led by MBK Partners for £4.2 billion. Homeplus is the second largest retailer in South Korea, behind Shinsegae Group's e-mart chain. The company offers a wide range of products, including groceries, clothing, furniture, and appliances. It acquired Homever, the Korean operations of Carrefour, in 2008 and rebranded them as Homeplus. With about 140 hypermarkets and over 1,000 express and convenience stores nationwide, Homeplus has a significant presence in the retail market.
