Post and Telecommunications of Kosovo (PTK) Sh.a. is a state-owned company, providing telecommunication services, including mobile and fixed telephony, postal services and internet access.
The history of PTK dates back to 1959 when the company operated under the name Post, Telephone and Telegraph of Kosovo, and was established by the Steering Council of Yugoslavian PTT Communion.
At the outbreak of the war the greater part of PTK’s assets were destroyed. When the war came to an end the national telecommunications company established three business units – Post of Kosovo, Telecom of Kosovo, and the mobile operator VALA.
In June 2005, PTK was transformed into a joint stock company with initial capital of EUR 260 million.
In 2008 the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo approved the Law on publicly owned enterprises, based on which central publicly owned enterprises, including PTK JSC, were declared to be assets of the State.
