Lao Brewery Co. Ltd, located in Vientiane, was established in 1973 as a joint-venture between foreign investors and Lao businessmen. Originally known as Lao Beer and Ice Factory, the company had an annual production capacity of 3 million liters of beer, 1.5 million liters of carbonated drinks, and a daily production capacity of 120 tonnes of ice. After the National Liberation, the Lao Government took over the foreigners' shares and the Lao businessmen voluntarily handed over their shares to the State. In 1993, Loxley Public Co., Ltd and Italian-Thai Public Co., Ltd invested in Lao Brewery, enabling it to increase its production capacity and marketing efforts. In 2002, there was a change in foreign joint venture partners, with the new partners including the Lao Government (50%), Carlsberg Asia Co. Ltd. (25%), and the TCC International Co. Ltd. (25%). The company has experienced significant growth over the past 20 years and currently has more than 2500 employees. Lao Brewery is highly rated in Laos and its flagship product is Beerlao, a national beer brand that has received international awards for quality. In addition to Beerlao, the company also offers other brands such as Kronenbourg 1664 Blanc, Somersby, Tuborg, and Beerlao White.
