The Company was founded in the year 2000 and is licensed by the Monetary Board of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka under the Finance Business Act No. 42 of 2011, and sustains the National Long-term rating at ' A(lka) Stable'; as affirmed by Fitch Ratings.
The Company is listed on Colombo stock exchange on 8th January 2020.
The company pioneered commercial based microfinance in Sri Lanka, charting a new course for the enterprising but inclusive small scale entrepreneurs of Sri Lanka, and is internationally acclaimed for its contribution to the microfinance industry.
The Company changed its name from HNB FINANCE LIMITED to HNB FINANCE PLC with effected from 10th September 2020.
HNB Finance PLC amalgamated with its subsidiary, Prime Finance PLC on 12 May 2022. As a result, the Group ceased to be effective with effectfrom 12 May 2022. ConsolidatedStatement of Profit or Loss and Other Comprehensive Income, Consolidated Statement of Changes in Equity and Consolidated Statement of Cash Flows for the year ended 31 March 2023 includes cumulative financial results of the Company for the period from 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2023 and that of Prime Finance PLC for the period from 1 April 2022 up to 12 May 2022 (i.e, the date of amalgamation).
