The Company is a Limited Liability Company incorporated on February 02, 1995 and domiciled in Sri Lanka. It is a Licensed Commercial Bank regulated under the Banking Act No. 30 of 1988 and amendments thereto. The Bank was re-registered under the Companies Act No. 7 of 2007.
In 2011:
- IPO receives highest oversubscription in Sri Lanka and globally.
- Acquisition of 51 of National Asset Management Limited.
- Acquisition of 98 voting shares of The Finance Guarantee Company Limited.
- 55 Plus senior citizens fixed deposit with 03 months interest upfront.
In 2012:
- Re-location to a state-of-the art Head office.
- The Bank Selected to the (Leading Brands in Sri Lanka) by Brand Finance.
- For the 1st time in Sri Lanka, The Bank together with SLT PEO TV launched TV Banking, a novel banking portal that facilitates online banking services.
- The Bank s Launch of a new 3 months FD with interest upfront and no penalty charge on premature withdrawals.
The issued ordinary shares of the Bank are listed on the Main Board of the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) under the ticker symbol 'UBC' on 29th March 2011. Summary of trading activity and daily prices of shares and debentures are published in most daily newspapers, including Daily FT, Daily News, The Island and Daily Mirror.
