Klaipeda Stevedoring Company KLASCO started its operations in 1991. KLASCO, which continues the seven-century history of Klaipeda port, engages in loading and unloading of cargo, assists ships which are coming into the port, reloads cargo from different means of transport on board the ships and vice versa, provides logistics services, as well as warehousing and storing, mooring and towage services. Presently KLASCO operates six terminals: bulk cargo, general cargo, ro-ro (sea ferries), container, bulk fertilizer and liquid fertilizer. From the geographical point of view, KLASCO meets all the requirements of the international East-West transport corridor. The leading stevedoring company in the port handles about 8 million tons of cargo every year and covers 40% of the Klaipeda stevedoring market. The company has been certified in compliance with ISO 9000:2001 quality management standards. It has implemented environmental protection management system in compliance with ISO 14001. It employs 940 employees.
