The company was formerly known as Libyan Arab Foreign Bank and changed its name to Libyan Foreign Bank in December 2005. In 2010, the shareholders of LFB decided to increase its capital to one billion USD .for the year 2010 and with this increase the paid up capital of LFB amounts to 3 billion USD divided into 30 million shares at a value of 100 USD per share.
