Teso Investment Joint Stock Company, located in Ulaanbaatar, is a coal mining company operating in the Tsagaan-Ovoo territory of Tsogttsetsii town in the Southgobi province. The company's coal deposit is situated at an altitude of 1500m to 1830m above sea level and is characterized by a harsh environment with limited precipitation and reduced wind in the fall and winter. Geological studies have revealed that the coal deposit consists of 16 layers, with layers 0, III, IVabc, and IXabcd being the most important. Tavantolgoi's coking coal is ranked among the top ten in the world in terms of resource amount and is of higher quality than coal sold on the Canadian and Australian markets. The company's deposit is estimated to be 6.5 billion tons, with the fourth layer being the most favorable for operations and expected to last for over a hundred years. Tavantolgoi has been supplying coal to the Southgobi, Middlegobi, and Eastgobi provinces since 1966.
