Founded in 1894 and headquartered in Mexico City, Bolsa Mexicana de Valores, S.A.B. de C.V. (BMV) is the sole stock exchange in Mexico and a cornerstone of the country’s financial infrastructure. It was incorporated as a publicly traded company in 2008, following a $444 million IPO. BMV operates a comprehensive suite of financial market services through six main business segments: Stock Exchange, Derivatives (MexDer), Brokerage, Settlements, Custody, and Information Technology and Market Data Services. Its subsidiaries include Contraparte Central de Valores de México (CCV), Mercado Mexicano de Derivados (MexDer), SIF ICAP, and Valmer, which collectively support the trading, clearing, and settlement of equities, debt instruments, and derivatives. BMV provides fully electronic trading platforms, post-trade services, and financial information products. The exchange plays a vital role in facilitating capital formation, offering listing services for domestic and international securities, and ensuring market transparency and regulatory compliance. It also operates the International Quotation System (SIC), allowing Mexican investors access to foreign securities. It was established in 1886, under the name “Bolsa Mercantil de Mexico”. In 1975 it changed its name to “Bolsa Mexicana de Valores”, integrating the other two stocks markets, Guadalajara and Monterrey. Finally, on June 13th 2008, it started to be a listed company, and its shares started to have activity in BMV, under the name “Bolsa”.
