CESCEMEX was created in 2000 under the name Seguros Bancomext. Since September 2006 it became part of Grupo CESCE. CESCE is a Spanish company, founded in 1971, which started participating in Latinamerican market by creating the Consorcio Internacional de Aseguradores de Credito (International Trade Credit Insurance Consortium), to develop Trade Credit Risk Insurance in American Markets. On September 27th, 2006, this consortium issued a capital increase in Seguros Bancomext becoming the majority shareholder with 51% of the capital share; the other 49% is still in the hands of Bancomext.
