The Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) is a state-owned electric utility company responsible for the generation, transmission, distribution, and commercialization of electric power. CFE provides electric energy services to residential, commercial, and industrial customers, contributing to the sustainable development of Mexico. The company utilizes various energy sources, including hydroelectric, conventional steam, combined cycle, coal-fired, turbo gas, geothermal, wind, and solar photovoltaic. It was incorporated on August 14, 1937. As of the end of 2024, the Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) had an installed capacity of 70,412 MW. This capacity includes a diverse mix of energy sources such as hydroelectric, nuclear, geothermal, wind, and solar. In terms of electricity generation, CFE produced 266.6 TWh of electricity in 2024. Clean energy generation accounted for a significant portion, with 52,477 GWh coming from hydroelectric, 22,172 GWh from nuclear, 11,978 GWh from geothermal, 3,673 GWh from wind, and 10,890 GWh from solar.
