Zurich Santander Seguros Mexico S.A. originated from Seguros Serfin Lincoln. In March 2000 Grupo Financiero Santander became its unique shareholder to acquire the remaining 49% of the shares still handled by Lincoln National Corporation, changing its name to Seguros Santander. Finally in 2011, Grupo Financiero Santander signed an agreement with the insurer Zurich, to which the financial group sold 51% of capital in its insurance operation in Latin America, Zurich taking charge of companies management operation and Santander in the distribution of insurance products.
