Shin Yang Shipping Corporation Berhad, located in Miri, is a shipping company that started in the early 80s with a small fleet of wooden tugs and steel hull barges. The company primarily transports timber products domestically from the interior parts of Sarawak. They also ship cargoes to other ports in Peninsular Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Indonesia. Shin Yang Shipping focuses on transporting loose bulk and container cargoes such as timber logs, sawn timber, plywood, quarry, cement, glue, lubricants, and project cargoes. They also transport car containers, timber products, light equipment, heavy machinery, vehicles, metal plates, steel products, flour, and spare parts. In addition to their shipping business, Shin Yang ventured into ship repair and acquired Piasau Slipways in the early 1980s. In 1999, Shin Yang Shipyard Sdn Bhd was established to provide vessel construction, repairs, and fabrications for the local and international market. The company has delivered over 420 different types of vessels, including offshore support vessels, maintenance/workboats, seismic support vessels, harbor tugs, pneumatic cement carriers, floating docks, and specialized vessels for the navy. They have customers from various countries, including Australia, Europe, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia. Shin Yang aims to be the preferred solution for shipping and shipbuilding needs, and they have acquired land in Tanjung Manis to meet their shipbuilding and metal fabrication activities.
