African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank Sae) is a financial institution that was established in Abuja, Nigeria in October 1993. It was founded by African Governments, African private and institutional investors, as well as non-African financial institutions and private investors. The bank's main objective is to provide financing and support for both intra-African and extra-African trade. Afreximbank is headquartered in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, and it began its operations on September 30, 1994, after signing a Headquarters Agreement with the Egyptian government in August of the same year. The bank currently has branch offices in Harare, Abuja, and Abidjan, and it plans to open a branch office in East Africa in the near future.
