Bougainville Copper Ltd has produced copper concentrate containing gold and silver from a mine at Panguna, North Solomons Province, PNG since 1972. The Panguna Mine has not operated since May 1989 due to the crisis in the North Solomons Province and activities of the armed militants. All personnel were evacuated in 1990 and the activities of the company are being managed on a contracted basis by CRA Minerals (PNG) Ltd. The Company has no subsidiaries. The company has effectively been INACTIVE since 1990.
The Company shares are listed on Australian Stock Exchange on December 31, 1970 and the Company name changed from Bougainville Mining Limited to Bougainville Copper Limited on October 29, 1973.
