State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) was incorporated in 1948 and it is headquartered in Karachi in Pakistan. The bank is responsible for setting and implementing monetary policy in Pakistan. SBP supervises many other banking areas, including microfinance, banking sector supervision, corporate governance, opening of foreign currency accounts with banks in Pakistan, agricultural financing, guidelines on risk management. Being a central bank of a developing country, it performs developmental functions as well in order to achieve macro-economic goals.
