Qatar Electricity and Water Company (QEWC) is a Qatari Shareholding Company founded in 1990 with a paid up capital of one hundred million shares of QR 10 each. More than 40% of the company are owned by the Government and the rest by companies and individuals. QEWC is considered as one of the first private sector companies that operate in the field of power and water production in the region, owning and operating power generation and water desalination stations using the most up-to-date technologies in the field. The company not only generates power and water but sells its products to the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation. QEWC has many completed projects like RAF A1 Water Project with a production capacity of 45 MIGD, Mesaieed power project whose production capacity is 2007 MWH of electricity, etc.
