Digital Cable Systems (DCS) is one of the largest operators in the market for the retransmission of television programs in Romania. The company provides internet services, fixed telephony and cable and satellite television branded AKTA. Company was founded in March 2005 through the merger of several cable companies. The company has 46 shareholders, of which over 30 are cable operators, operating on the Romanian market of 5-15 years. DCS is controlled by AIG Capital Partners, a division of American International Group. In 2007, DCS acquired Dial Telecom company providing internet. In August 2012, the company was present in over 2,000 villages, covering 23 of the 41 counties. DCS took over companies Cable Net, Canada Systems Group, Parlatel and MARNIS Media, the aggregate turnover of 7 million euros in 2011.
