The Wire and Wire Products Factory Buzau was established in 1963. In 1991, the factory became SC Ductil SA Buzau. From 1999, the company divided following the last privatization process and carrying out the foundation of the two companies: SC Ductil SA having the main activity the production and marketing of the welding consumables and SC Ductil Steel SA, specialized on the production and marketing of the wires and the wire products. In April 2008, Mechel International Holdings took over the majority stake of 100% Ductil Steel SA.
