GRANDEMAR holds a special place amongst the producers of building materials in Romania. Its quarries are placed in the centre of Transylvania where the bases of industrial extraction and processing of building stone were established: beginning with 1873 by opening Poieni Quarry under private patronage. The industrial unit transformed into a joint-stock company, taking the name of GRANDEMAR S.A. Beginning with 2007, the big projects for developing the Romanian infrastructure in the North-Western region brought Grandemar the growth and affirmation period so long expected. Big projects such as: construction of the Transylvania motorway, rehabilitation of the national road section Cluj - Bistrita - Suceava, construction of the bypass roads of Cluj-Napoca Town, the big commercial and business centres in Cluj, the industrial parks; rehabilitation or even building entirely the streets in Cluj. And last but not least the modernisation of Cluj-Napoca Airport.
