ICPE Actel SA is considered in Romania the pioneer of hight power electric drives. During a privtisation process in 1992 PEDAE laboratory spins off IRET as a state-owned company and becomes ICPE ACTEL SA. the company changes its legal personality in 1999 and becomes incorporated as a privately-owned company. 90% of romania's hydro and thermal power stations utilize ICPE Actel equipment of RUN or SRAT type. In 2006 the major activity for the company becomes the exporting electric drives and automation equipment for sea and terrestrial drilling.
