ICMET Craiova was founded in 1999. National Institute of Research-Development and Testing for Electrical activity started since 1974 as Central Research and Development Department Electroputere Company, the leading manufacturer in the field. National Metrological Institute has standards for the large forces (1-32 MN) and high voltage (alternative and continuous pulse and switching transept). The institute holds the national laboratories: RENAR for attempts to: high voltage, high power electromagnetic compatibility and low voltage DKD (German Calibration Service) calibrating the large forces at high voltage electromagnetic fields; Datech for dielectric tests of equipment and high voltage components. Participants in the international scientific and technical cooperation by establishing bilateral ties with countries such as Greece, Germany, Israel, Switzerland and European level relationships within international programs (COPERNICUS, COST, PHARE, EUREKA).
