SAFI Invest SA has been Mutual Fund management company Businessmen (FMOA). The Fund was established in 1993 and has brought to market investor certificates that people rushed to buy them, being tempted by that were promised an increase of 40% per month of the amount invested, while banks were granting an interest rate of only 5-7%. In 1996 Businessmen Mutual Fund has faced very serious problems, caused mainly by inadequate investment policies and capital market regulatory failure, problems that culminated in the suspension of redemption. In 1998, after consulting investors FMOA turned into closed investment fund and venture capital has changed its name Businessmen Fund (FOA). SAFI scandal, in which were involved several leaders of PNL (Viorel Buckle, George Danielescu, Radu Cojocaru, Dan Constantinescu) broke out in the spring of 1996, shortly before local elections.
