RCS&RDS is one of the largest Romanian and Eastern European telecoms, offering nation wide satellite television, cable television, cable internet, VOIP, and 3G services. In November 1998, the first cable network in Budapest was bought, today having the 3rd place on the Hungarian cable operators market. In 1998 Romania Data Systems (RDS) is set up, specialized on data transmissions and Internet. In April 2002 - TotalNet, internet services operator, was acquired. In December 2004, it launches the first digital television service in Romania (Digi TV). In 2006 - the digital Tv through cable, Digi Cablu, is launched. The company, which is based in Bucharest, Romania, was formed in April 2005 by the de jure merger of Romania Cable Systems (RCS) and Romania Data Systems (RDS). The companies were under the same ownership from the very beginning and operating de facto as a single unit long before that. RCS & RDS also operates two mobile virtual networks over Movistar in Spain and 3 in Italy for the Romanians living in these countries. In February 2011 RCS & RDS launched mobile internet service in Hungary under the Digi Move brand. This service is run over Telenor Hungaryʼs infrastructure.
