REMAT Maramureș SA focuses on the collection, processing and marketing of recyclable materials, both ferrous and non-ferrous, in order to reintegrate them into the economic circuit. In addition to this core activity, the company imports Elvial aluminum profiles from Greece, CCG PVC joinery from Germany and Walin composite marble products. The company was established in 1991, through the reorganization of the former County Enterprise for the Recovery and Valorization of Reusable Materials (IJRVMR), which had its roots in the 1970 Metal Waste Processing and Collection Depot. Fully privatized in 1998, REMAT Maramureș covers the county through collection centers in Sighetu Marmației and Vișeu. Its activity has continuously developed from the collection and processing of metallic and non-metallic waste, including materials such as paper and tires, to the integration of modern related activities. Its origins date back to 1948, as the Materials Collection Enterprise under the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry.
