SN Radiocomunicatii SA (SNR) was established in 1991 as the state-owned radio and TV distribution network operator. The company was converted into a state-owned limited liability company in 1998. Through its microwave network, the company: carries radio and data signals for telecommunications, radio, and cable TV companies; carries long-distance telephone traffic; distributes national and local radio programmes; carries international TV programmes; and, distributes national TV programmes. SNR also transports international traffic over its satellite network, which includes earth stations connected to the Intelsat, Eutelsat, Inmarsat, and Intersputnik satellite systems.
