The Resita industrial complex was established on July 3, 1771 by commissioning the first furnaces and forges, being known as the oldest industrial facility in Romania. UCM Resita SA was established in 1991 from the former Intreprinderea de Constructii de Masini Resita (ICM Resita). On December 23, 2003 APAPS (Authority for Privatization and State Shareholding Administration) sold the entire package of shares held by the State to the consortium consisting of the Swiss Company INET A.G. and the Association of Employees with UCM. Resita. In November 2006, The Shareholders Assembly voted for the shareholders' modification in participation as a result of a raise in the joint stock. The company produces machines and equipment mainly for the power industry, for transport and and mining, but also for metallurgical and chemical plants. Since July 1997 UCM Resita is quoted on Bucharest Stock Exchange.
