Banka Sparkasse d.d. began operations in 1999 as a branch of Ausrtia-based banking group Kärntner Sparkasse AG. The group, which was later transformed into Erste Bank der Oesterreichischen Sparkassen AG, operates subsidiaries in Austria, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Ukraine and Croatia and has a customer base of over 17.5 million clients. The Slovenian branch turned into a separate legal entity named Banka Sparkasse d.d. in 2006. The lender offers various corporate, private and investment banking services. It is focused on the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) segment. Banka Sparkasse d.d. operates a network of branch offices in eight Slovenian cities.
