CORPOELEC, the National Electric Company, which is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of People's Power for Electric Energy, was created with the purpose of reorganising and unifying Venezuela's electricity sector, ensuring the provision of a reliable, inclusive and socially focused electricity service. This integration makes it possible to strengthen the electricity sector and offer a quality and efficient service to the Venezuelan people, responding as a socialist company in all the activities and projects of social contribution promoted by the Revolutionary Government of Venezuela.
CORPOELEC was founded by the Government through Presidential Decree No. 5,330 in July 2007, when the then President Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías promoted the reorganisation of the National Electricity Sector (SEN) with the aim of improving the electricity service throughout the country.
