Vietnam Shipping and Chartering Company, located in Ho Chi Minh municipality, was established on June 25, 6 as the successor of South Vietnam Shipping Company (SOVOSCO). After the liberation of the South and reunification of the country, SOVOSCO took over maritime facilities and quickly repaired and operated a fleet of small, old, and damaged ships to contribute to the economic recovery after the war. On March 14, 1984, Transchart Shipping and Chartering Company merged with SOVOSCO to form Vietnam Shipping and Chartering Company (Vitranschart), under the General Administration of Vietnam Seaways. The company expanded its fleet and developed more ocean shipping routes, reaching ports in the region and worldwide. On March 11, 1993, the Ministry of Transport established Vietnam Shipping and Chartering Company as a state-owned enterprise under the Vietnam Maritime Administration. The company specializes in shipping, services, agents, and maritime brokers, serving the maritime construction and economic development of Vietnam's industry. In 1995, the government established Vietnam Maritime Corporation, and Vietnam Shipping and Chartering Company became one of its first member units. Since January 01, 01, the company has operated as a joint stock company with the state capital at 15.44%. The company aims to maintain and enhance the VITRANSCHART brand in the maritime market and become a leading enterprise in Vietnam's shipping services, crew supply, and related maritime services. The company's mission is to bring more value to life for a more sustainable world by increasing the value of customers' goods through professional seafarers, a modern management system, and environmentally friendly means of transportation.
