On 26 Sep 2020, Dongtam Group held an inauguration ceremony for the first phase of the Long An International Port in Tan Lap commune, Can Giuoc District, the southern province of Long An. The 147-hectare port is developed in three phases with a total investment of nearly VND 10 trillion (USD 430.7 million ). It is designed to have seven wharves, which are able to receive ships of up to 70,000 DWT. More than 400,000 square meters at the port were arranged to build warehouses, serving the transportation of farm produce, steel, fertilizer, among others in the Mekong Delta. In Feb 2021, DTG announced that it was completing the remaining legal procedures for expanding the Long An International Port, enabling berths No. 8 and No.9 to receive 100,000 DWT ships. As scheduled, the project will be completed in 2023, lifting the total length of the wharf system to 2,368 m, enabling the handling of over 80 million tons of goods per year. It is expected that the port to start container loading and unloading in the second quarter of this year, a move expected to ease container congestion in Ho Chi Minh City. That will help many enterprises and partners in the Mekong Delta region reduce costs, improve competitiveness, and maximize operational efficiency.
