The Public Enterprise for electric energy transmission and transmission system control Elektromreža Srbije (EMS), which is based in the Serbian capital Belgrade, was established as an independent state-owned company in 2005. It is mainly engaged in electricity transmission and control of the electricity system as well as organization of the electric energy market in Serbia.
EMS operates three units - Transmission Division, System Operation Division and Market Division. The transmission activity of the company is operated through six regional departments - in Belgrade, Bor, Valjevo, Obilic, Novi Sad and Krusevac.
The energy transmission facilities of the company are 424 units and 9,311.9 km overhead lines of 400kV, 220 kV and 110 kV voltage levels. The total installed capacity of EMS is 13,555 MVA.
