Vranje-based Simpo group, which was established in 1963, is the largest furniture maker in Serbia. The company has subsidiaries in furniture manufacturing, food and beverage industry, trade and transportation.
The company representatives has reported EUR 131.5 million of production, which is an increase of 54% y/y, in 2001. Simpo exports part of its production to the EU, Near East and Asia, as well as to the USA, Canada and Australia. The concern is mainly processing imported materials, which burdens the cash flow and supplementing operations in most of them. Foreign partners are sought as key elements in company development plans.
In 2009, the company started a partnership with Swedish furniture giant IKEA.
Simpo operated a network of 80 outlets and department stores throughout the country as of February 2011. The firm also owns Si-Market retail chain with more than 170 units in Serbia.
