Pirot-based rubber goods producer Tigar was initially established in 1935. It was transformed into a joint-stock company in 1991. In December 2002 began the restructuring of the firm and 8 separate legal entities were set up.
Tires manufacturer Tigar Tyres (former Tigar MH) was established in 2003 as a joint venture between Tigar A.D. (65%), France’s Michelin (25%) and the International Finance Corporation (10%). In 2009 Michelin became the sole owner of the company.
Tigar Corporation comprises companies engaged in the following areas - manufacture of footwear, technical rubber goods and chemical products, retail of automotive accessories and footwear, tire repair services, auto-mechanic services, car wash.
