Brazil's automotive sector showed mixed performance in the first nine months of 2025, combining resilient production and exports with softer domestic demand. According to ANFAVEA (Brazilian Automotive Industry Association), vehicle production totalled just over 2.0mn units between January and September 2025, remaining 6% higher y/y despite a loss of momentum in Q3. Output weakened in the third quarter, with overall production contracting 0.8% y/y, reflecting a sharper decline in heavy vehicles (-9.4% y/y) and a marginal reduction in light-vehicle output (-0.1% y/y). Within the heavy vehicle segment, truck production fell 15.6% y/y, while bus output rose 26.9% y/y, supported by public procurement and fleet renewal programmes.
