Brazil's retail sector experienced a marked slowdown in Q3 2025, extending the deceleration already observed in Q2 2025. According to the Monthly Trade Survey (PMC) published by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), retail sales volumes declined 0.3% m/m in September 2025, following a marginal 0.1% increase in August. The three-month moving average, which compares the average sales volume of the latest three months with that of the immediately preceding three-month period, remained broadly stable, edging down 0.1%, signalling limited short-term momentum.
