The fintech sector in Brazil encompasses a diverse range of players and services, however, only 295 were under the supervision of the country's central bank as of September 2024, qualifying them as part of the National Financial System (SFN). To join the SFN, companies must provide financial intermediation services and meet specific thresholds for transaction volume, equity, capital, and other criteria. As of September 2024, the sector included 138 credit fintechs, comprising 126 direct credit societies (SCD) and 12 peer-to-peer lending companies (SEP). Additionally, 157 payment processing institutions were regulated by the central bank by the end of September 2024.
