China Car Parts Sector Report 2017/2021

 The sales revenue of China’s car parts sector is estimated to have reached RMB 3,456bn in 2016 – an increase of 7.6% y/y over 2015 – according to the latest annual growth estimates by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), which cover the period 2016-2018. This was slower growth than that of the automotive sector as a whole, where car sales were stimulated by a tax cut in 2016 and saw exceptional growth 13.7% y/y with output surging by a still higher 14.5%. The car parts sector saw a y/y drop in exports in 2016, and increased imports. China’s exports of auto parts and accessories totalled USD 45.98bn in 2016, down 1.8% y/y, after a 4.8% y/y drop in 2015. Imports of auto parts and components stood at USD 30.11bn in 2016 – a y/y increase of 8.5%.
