Colombia Consumer Goods and Retail Sector Report H2 2025

In Q2 2025, Colombia's GDP grew by 2.1% y/y in real terms, with private consumption remaining the main driver of growth. On the demand side, household spending rose from 0.9% y/y in Q2 2024 to 3.7% y/y in Q2 2025, supported by stronger purchases of durable and semi-durable goods, which in turn boosted the recovery of the retail sector. In July 2025, the retail trade index expanded by 17.9% y/y in real terms, with growth recorded across all 19 retail activities. The highest contributions came from information and communications equipment (56% y/y), vehicles and motorcycles (46.3% y/y), and household appliances and furniture (26.5% y/y). Retail activity also increased across all seven departments analysed, with Bogota, Santander, and Antioquia registering the strongest performance. According to consumer insights firm Raddar, this rise in household spending has been more pronounced among higher-income households, which have benefited from greater access to credit.
