In its October 2022 meeting, OPEC+ decided to cut oil production by 2mn bbl/day until the end of 2023 on concerns of demand despite a call from other nations to refrain from doing so. As a result, in October 2022, WTI averaged USD 87.55/bbl which was higher than USD 84.26/bbl in September 2022. After rising in October, WTI corrected in the two subsequent months falling to USD 84.37//bbl in November 2022 and USD 76.58 in December 2022 due to fears of an impending recession in the light of high inflation and rising interest rates.
