The gross output of Poland’s wood, paper and furniture industry stood at 6.6% of the country’s GDP in 2017. In the same year, it also accounted for 12.5% of employment in manufacturing and 2.5% of total employment in the Polish economy. The industry' share in Poland's total exports was 10.2% in 2018. The most important subsector in terms of exports is furniture. Poland is the world's third biggest furniture exporter and the world's sixth-biggest furniture maker with a combined gross value added of PLN 39.7bn in 2017, which represented 2.3% of the GDP. Poland is also the EU’s seventh-biggest paper producer.
